The Upper School
Level 1 A & B
Ages 8 - 9
Level 1 marks the beginning of more focused conservatory training. Dancers deepen their understanding of classical technique while developing increased strength, flexibility, coordination, and artistic awareness. New concepts such as introductory pirouettes, allegro, and pre-pointe preparation are introduced through careful, age-appropriate progression. Students learn that true artistry is built through patience, consistency, and attention to detail.
Level 2 A & B
Ages 9 - 10
With a solid technical foundation established, Level 2 challenges dancers to move with greater precision, control, and confidence. Students refine épaulement, develop more advanced adagio and allegro work, strengthen turns, and continue preparing for pointe through anatomically sound training. As artistry and technique become increasingly connected, dancers begin to express not only what ballet looks like, but what it feels like.
Level 3 A & B
Ages 10 - 11
Level 3 represents an important transition toward advanced classical training. Dancers are challenged with increasingly sophisticated vocabulary, pirouettes, batterie, larger allegro, and the introduction of more demanding pointe work for eligible students. Technique becomes more refined while musicality, performance quality, and artistic maturity take on a greater role. Students begin to understand that every movement tells a story, and every correction brings them closer to mastery.
Level 4 A & B
Ages 12 - 13
Level 4 prepares dancers for the highest levels of conservatory and pre-professional training. Students refine advanced classical vocabulary, multiple pirouettes, expansive adagio, grand allegro, pointe technique, and performance artistry through the structured progression of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum. With discipline, resilience, and a commitment to excellence, dancers learn not only how to execute demanding choreography, but how to bring it to life with confidence, elegance, and meaning.
Level 5 A & B
Ages 14 - 15
Level 5 marks an exciting transition from developing dancers to emerging artists. Building upon years of carefully sequenced training, students refine complex coordination, dynamic changes of direction, advanced pirouettes, expansive adagio, batterie, and increasingly sophisticated pointe work for eligible dancers. Greater emphasis is placed on épaulement, musical interpretation, and artistic intention, allowing technique to become expressive rather than mechanical. As every class becomes more demanding, students develop the discipline, resilience, and attention to detail that define exceptional classical training
Level 6 A & B
Ages 15 - 16
Level 6 challenges dancers to elevate every aspect of their training. Precision, strength, artistry, and musical intelligence are refined through advanced combinations, multiple pirouettes, grand allegro, renversé, advanced pointe work, and increasingly complex coordination. Students learn that technical mastery is achieved not through repetition alone, but through thoughtful practice, anatomical awareness, and intelligent movement. Each correction deepens their understanding, transforming disciplined practice into confident artistic expression while preparing dancers for the highest levels of conservatory training.
