Level 2
Ages 9+
Level 2 expands the dancer’s technical vocabulary while asking for greater strength, precision, and independence. Students refine barre and center work, épaulement, alignment, weight transfer, pirouette preparation, adagio, and increasingly detailed allegro combinations.
At this stage, dancers learn to coordinate the head, arms, torso, and legs with greater clarity while becoming more aware of musical timing and movement quality. Training encourages students to retain corrections, understand the purpose behind each exercise, and approach their work with growing responsibility. Pre-pointe development may continue for students who demonstrate the necessary strength, alignment, maturity, and consistency

Placement
Students are placed in the appropriate level based on their age, previous experience, and faculty recommendation. Our goal is to ensure every dancer begins in a class where they feel confident, challenged, and supported.
Audition is required for The Upper School classes.
Enrollment
Enrollment is limited to maintain small class sizes and provide thoughtful, individualized instruction.
Registration is accepted on a rolling basis as space permits. Once a class reaches capacity, students will be placed on a waitlist and contacted when an opening becomes available.
Dress Code
Students must wear the official Ayala Ballet Conservatory uniform assigned to their level.

The dress code promotes discipline and unity while allowing teachers to observe alignment and movement clearly.

Level 2 continues a dancer’s progression through the Upper School at Ayala Ballet Conservatory. Through the structured progression of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, students build upon foundational technique while developing greater strength, flexibility, coordination, musicality, artistry, and technical precision in a focused conservatory environment.
What age is Level 2 ballet designed for?
Level 2 is generally designed for students ages 9 and older. Placement is determined through an audition and may also consider previous training, technical ability, physical development, maturity, and overall readiness for continued conservatory training.
Can beginners join Level 2 ballet?
Yes. Beginners may be accepted into Level 2 through the audition process. Placement is determined individually and considers a student's age, coordination, focus, musicality, physical readiness, and potential for success within the conservatory training program.
What will my child learn in Level 2 ballet?
Students continue developing classical ballet technique through a structured curriculum emphasizing alignment, turnout, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, musicality, artistry, and increasingly complex ballet vocabulary. Greater attention is placed on refinement, precision, performance quality, and technical consistency.
What makes Level 2 different from Level 1?
Level 2 builds upon the technical foundation established in Level 1. Students are introduced to more complex combinations, increased technical expectations, and a higher level of discipline, focus, and artistic development as they continue progressing through the conservatory curriculum.
