Primary A: Ages 5 & 6
Primary A introduces young dancers to a more structured stage of classical ballet training. Guided by the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, students begin developing essential technique, musicality, coordination, ballet vocabulary, and classroom discipline through thoughtful, age-appropriate instruction.
As dancers progress beyond the earliest foundations, each exercise encourages greater focus, body awareness, and control. Students begin learning how correct posture, placement, and alignment support healthy movement while building the strength, flexibility, and coordination needed for future advancement.
Imagination and creativity remain an important part of the classroom, but students are also encouraged to work with greater independence and intention. Through carefully designed combinations, dancers learn to listen closely to the music, remember movement patterns, follow corrections, and take pride in their progress.
Within a warm and encouraging environment, children develop confidence, patience, and a deeper appreciation for the discipline of ballet. They begin to understand that strong technique is created through consistent practice, careful attention, and a genuine love for the art form.
With every class, strong foundations begin to flourish into confident, expressive movement.

Tuition and Registration
One Day per Week $160/month
Two Days per Week $250/month
Three Days per Week $350/month
A non-refundable $100 registration fee and $90 uniform fee are due upon enrollment.
Placement
Students are placed in the appropriate level based on their age, previous experience, and faculty recommendation. Our goal is to ensure every dancer begins in a class where they feel confident, challenged, and supported.
No audition is required for The Lower School classes.
Enrollment
Enrollment is limited to maintain small class sizes and provide thoughtful, individualized instruction.
Registration is accepted on a rolling basis as space permits. Once a class reaches capacity, students will be placed on a waitlist and contacted when an opening becomes available.
Dress Code
Students must wear the official Ayala Ballet Conservatory uniform assigned to their level.

What is a Primary A ballet class?
Primary A is the first level of formal classical ballet training for children ages 5 and 6. Students begin building a strong technical foundation through age-appropriate ballet instruction that develops coordination, musicality, posture, flexibility, strength, and artistry. Classes introduce greater structure while maintaining a joyful and engaging learning environment.
What age is Primary A ballet designed for?
Primary A is designed for children ages 5 and 6. Placement may also consider previous training, maturity, physical development, and teacher recommendation to ensure each student is placed in the most appropriate level.
Does my child need previous ballet experience?
No previous ballet experience is required. Primary A welcomes both beginners and students progressing from Pre-Primary. Teachers provide individualized guidance to help every dancer develop confidence and a strong technical foundation.
What will my child learn in Primary A ballet?
Students continue developing classical ballet fundamentals including posture, turnout awareness, coordination, musicality, flexibility, balance, and introductory ballet vocabulary. Dancers also learn classroom etiquette, discipline, focus, and performance skills that support long-term success in ballet training.
How does Primary A prepare children for Primary B?
Primary A establishes the technical and artistic foundations needed for continued progression through the Lower School curriculum. Students develop greater strength, coordination, musical understanding, and confidence while preparing for the more advanced concepts introduced in Primary B and the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum.
Where are Primary A ballet classes offered in Miami?
Ayala Ballet Conservatory offers children's ballet classes at select campuses throughout Miami, including Brickell, Coconut Grove, Miami Beach, and Edgewater. How much do Primary A ballet classes cost?
Tuition begins at $160 per month for one class per week.
Two classes per week are available for $250 per month.
Three classes per week are available for $350 per month.

What should my child wear to Primary A ballet?
Primary A students wear the official Ayala Ballet Conservatory Primary A uniform, pink and white ankle socks, and pink canvas ballet shoes. Hair should be secured neatly in a classical ballet bun. What if my child is shy or hesitant to participate?
Every child enters the studio with a different temperament. Some are ready to dance immediately, while others prefer to observe before joining. Our faculty creates a warm and encouraging environment where children are given the patience, reassurance, and gentle guidance they need to develop confidence at their own pace.
